Welcome to The Daily Groomer, your best friend when it comes to professional grooming - or 2nd best friend if we’re counting dogs 😂.

💃 The Met Gala for Pets

It’s spooky season 👻

For over thirty years, the annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade has delighted hundreds of the spookiest four legged friends. After this year’s event was initially cancelled, a last minute sponsor came in to save the day - and people did not disappoint!

This past weekend, the parade hosted some of the most creative costumes we’ve ever seen. From Barbie to Ratatouille, dogs rocked the red carpet in style 😎

"It's basically the Met Gala for the Canine Community. We’ve been overcome by the amazing display of support from our community, so call the pup-arazzi: the show will go on!"

Fern Watt

Each passing year witnesses an impressive display of canine couture, with costumes ranging from intricately detailed to delightfully imaginative. Some standout ensembles from previous editions have included the likes of the Phantom of the Opera, Starbarks, and even a cleverly designed NYC garbage can.

The range of creativity on display knows no bounds - (it might make sense why our neighbors call us the crazy dog person 😅). But who cares! Get your freak on this Halloween! 🎃

🤩 From humble bather to national television

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Macie Pisa, ABC’s Pooch Perfect winner, successful salon owner, and upstate New York’s newest mobile groomer. If you’ve never met Macie, she’s YOUNG! Her grooming journey might seem out of this world, but her lessons for success are not.

Here’s how Macie Pisa continually finds success:

1. Embrace opportunities for personal growth - After realizing her passion, Macie dedicated four years to learning and working with a mentor. This period of intense learning and self-reflection was the foundation for her success as a groomer and shaped her career path. Be open to mentorship, you’ll never know the doors it will open.

2. Overcome fear and take the first step - She auditioned for a nationally televised show with poop on her shoe. She literally took that first step! 💩 What else do I have to say?! Jokes aside, whether it’s a show audition or new business, sometimes it just takes 3 seconds of courage to take that first step.

3. Embrace your unique style - Despite being perceived as intimidating, Macie's small stature and kind nature shatter stereotypes. Her innovative and creative grooming techniques have attracted a loyal clientele and even caught the attention of other prominent figures in the industry. Lesson here? Don’t be afraid to be you!

If you want to listen to the full story about why Macie Pisa became one of my favorite groomers (seriously), dive into our full conversation on The Daily Groomer Podcast (or you can go ahead and click here).
