Charging $500+ for ONE dog

Matted, filthy, and NEVER been groomed. How much would you charge??

Happy Friday everybody!

Last week I told you that I wanted to be a gameshow host - and 207 of you took me up on that offer! You guys are the best šŸ„²

So for today’s email, I want to reveal the winning answer.

But first - let me explain the game to those of you that missed out on last week’s email.

The name of the game? The Price is Bite

The goal? Guess the final price the groomer charged

Last week’s game gave the following hints…

  • Age: 7

  • Last Groom: Never

  • Breed: Pyrenees Mountain Dog

  • Location: Brick & Mortar salon in Great Falls, Montana (Population 60,000)

Before

During

After

😳

So here’s the deal.

I’m going to reveal what all of the players put down as their guesses… but I won’t reveal the names. I’ll keep it anonymous!

It looks like most of you guessed that this dog should cost between $250-$350. šŸ‘‡

But that’s NOT CORRECT. 😳

Before we get to the right answer… here were some of my favorite comments from a few of the players…

Guessed $450+ → ā€œOne person w/o any help grooming, bathing and cleanup would take 5 hours. The dog and groomer need a break in between. No dog wants to stand all that time. Plus, it'll be another stretch between grooming again.ā€

Guessed $250-$350 → ā€œExpect to get a few if these a year at least. Charge enough to be worth while but not too much that the dog never gets groomed. The dog is what’s important hereā€

Guessed $0-$150 → ā€œI would charge a minimum of $100. If you’re just getting underneath all the mats and taking it all off, it’s not as hard as it seems. Unless, the dog is not cooperative. There is no way you could bathe that dog and get it dry without the shave first. I’ve been Grooming for almost 32 years. I try to stay reasonable in my pricing. ā€

So are you ready for the REAL answer??

Make sure you’re sitting down because this one is a bit of a stunner…

The grand total is 🄁 … drumroll please…. 🄁 $506!!!

I told you it was a stunner!!!

I know prices vary by a million different things, but this groomer said ā€œ[I] was not as nice with the pricing due to the neglect. The customer left happy and grateful and dogs left happy and comfortable after the filth and mats were gone.ā€

Congratulations to the 13 players who guessed correctly 🄳

So anyways, I had fun playing that but I’m curious what you guys think!

Did you like this game? Would you want to play again?
